Welcome to the website of Great Alne Cricket Club.
A new season is underway, both friendly games have ended in defeat.
In the league, Great Alne played their first league game on Satarday and suffered a dissapointing result away at Overbury. The club will look to bounce back in the next game. The club should not feel too dispondent, since I think GA have never won their first league game for at least 5 years before this one, in part due to abondened games.
Next fixture: Cookhill(H) League
Last season: N/A
Form: Both teams were defeated in their first league game and occupy the 2 relegation spots after it. Very long way to go though.
Last game: Overbury(A) League
Great Alne 105 all out (Walters 30), Overbury 106-1 (J.Burch 1-12). 1 point scored in the league.
April/early May:
Batsmen of the month: S Temple, M Walters, G Pryor
Bowlers of the month: N Fleetwood, J Burch, M Walters
Fielders of the month: M Walters, D Hadley, W Pethick
Did you know?
Only 3 players played in all of GA's 5 victories in the league last year. 2 of them are Dave Coll (now retired) and Danny Craig (not playing this year) leaving only J Burch as the remaing player to participate in all 5, still playing this season.
8 Players have batted for the club since the new websites launch without scoring a run.
In the years gone by.....
Sunday 4th May 2003 vs Fladbury(A)
Great Alne started well with an opening partnership of 55 by G Pryor and S Burch. Alne believe in the saying 1 brings 2 when their in the field, whilst batting however its a different matter. In this particular game after losing the first wicket on 55 they collapsed to 70-9. (15 runs for 9 wickets). R Walters and J burch put on a solid 8 partnership runs wondering what all the fuss was about, before Walters was also dismissed. 78 all out. That was the second highest partnership. Walters finished 3rd top scorer. Fladbury;s bowlers finished with 5-2 and 3-3 for 2 of them in particular. Fladbury knocked off the runs with just 3 down, all falling LBW. The umpire must have felt sorry for us!

The beautiful location and friendly, warm welcome you are assured when coming to the club make it a very attractive place to play or watch cricket with drinks and refreshments available.
Oh Dear, What can you say ? Great Alne CC, (monumentus collapsicus) new club motto. Who would be the club skipper eh ? Plenty of batting and bucket load of bowling apparently, Overbury stiffs didn't h
